A Multi-Strand Necklace to Highlight an Artist’s Enamel Beads
Designer: Alice Korach

Inspired by Fae Mellichamp’s etched enamel beads

I have long been a fan of Fae Mellichamp’s beautiful beads and became even more enthusiastic when she added metal fabrication to her list of skills a number of years ago. Initially she mounted intricate glass cabochons that she and her husband Budd called gizmos into her hollow silver box beads but recently she has taken to enamel on etched copper which she describes as very very simple. the idea is to let the heat and the copper react with the clear glass enamel for magical only partially visible results. With Fae’s help I picked a group of beads to showcase the various sizes and shapes she makes. ( others are medium and large rounds, ovals and flat ovals , see “ marvelous metal beads “ )

I knew the necklace would be multistranded because I couldn’t resist Fae’s large triangular cones . I would need a lot of strands to fill their mouths. So when I got home I went through all my various boxes and bags of beads to find things that looked good with Fae’s beads but didn’t compete for focal btn_downloadebookattention. I settled on small green , copper and bronzy pearls with bronze lined aurora borealis AB size 11 beads.
