ABCs of Beading
By Alice Korach

...this introductory booklet explains the main techniques of bead stringing and seed bead weaving.
Written by Alice Korach, this introductory booklet explains the main techniques of bead stringing and seed bead weaving. Tools and materials are shown and explained. In the bead stringing section, you’ll make head pin earrings and eye pin earrings with a charm dangle. You’ll also learn how to string on cord, using bead tips and how to string on flexible beading wire, using crimp beads.
A multi-strand necklace teaches wrapped loops and the use of cones to conceal knots. There is also a necklace made of beads on wire links and a beaded bead. The seed bead section introduces the wide variety of seed beads, sizes, and finishes and teaches flat and tubular peyote stitch with a tubular peyote stitch necklace over a thin plastic tube. Brick stitch is covered with a pair of earrings, and a bracelet of alternating dark and light squares teaches square stitch. An intricate looking but easy rose trellis bracelet explains horizontal netting. The booklet concludes with a beaded bead necklace strung on mixed fibers, a macramé bead ring, the basic beader’s knots, and an easy needle-threading technique. These projects did not appear in Bead&Button magazine.
