BeadBugle News

Last month we were pleased to announce that we were going to archive all of our articles on a website, as they originally appeared in the monthly issues of the magazine. This will allow you to read the complete article and see the projects with the original size pictures without downloading a PDF. In the case of projects, you will still need to download the PDF if you want complete step-by-step projects with photos and instructions.

It appears that we have confused a few of our readers on the difference between our Archive Links and the Archived Articles. Simply stated, the Archive Links is the older system that allows you to browse all the past articles and projects by department and it lists every past article and project that we published.

The Archived Articles is where you can actually read the past articles in their entirety without downloading the PDF. The project pages show enlarged picture of the finished project with a short description. You will still need to download the complete article for step-by-step instructions and photos. This section is under construction and is not currently complete. We are in the process of converting older PDF’s back to html code. We fully expect this project to take a year to convert all the 1,400 plus articles and projects. So if you would like to look at ALL the available articles for download, use the Archive Links, if you want to browse and read the articles that we now have available, use the Archived Articles. Please note that these two buttons are on the bottom of each page of the BeadBugle.Com

We apologize for the confusion.

The Tucson Shows

During January and February, there were 47 individual and different shows being held in and around Tucson. Each buyer that attends the Tucson event is being split between more shows and more vendors. Universally we heard that business was “not what it used to be”. It has definitely been a buyers market for the last few years. So what will happen in the future? We are betting that the shows will lose vendors, a number of shows will cease to be, the price of the booths will drop and all things will adjust and balance themselves out. This is called the business cycle.

We also see the same things happening for all the other bead shows being promoted by bead magazines, bead societies and independent show promoters. The costs for exhibiting in these shows continues to increase and attendance and sales appear to decrease. Many of our friends in the industry are cutting back on the number of shows they exhibit at simply because it “doesn’t pay in time and dollars.”

The bead business is cycling and will shake out in the future. The overall business is larger than it has ever been, but there just appears that there are too many vendors and shows btn_downloadebookchasing the same bead dollar. What say You?
