ColorReport for Bead Artists

A Useful Tool For Every Beader

Cover500

“According to Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, the spring ’08 palette is defined by “classic, versatile neutrals punctuated by splashes of invigorating brights, empowering consumers to explore new and creative ways to combine colors.”

So what about the ordinary person, who might need just a little more help than the average “global authority” in deciding which color to feature in their designs? What about the color palette that goes best with a “classic, versatile neutral?” And if I’m going to bead, which Delica bead color should I really use? If you are a stringer what stones would compliment an “energizing red” or an “eco-friendly green?”

All of these questions beg for specific decisions if you wish to be in harmony with the upcoming season’s hot new colors. Margie’s approach isn’t to “tell” you what colors to use, but offers you unusual, effective and sometimes stunning combinations of the Pantone colors. “I’m just trying to save you time and make your color selections easier, not tell you what to do! I hope you understand,” said Margie.

We believe that Margie Deeb has created a brilliant and timely product to help us all deal with the issues of color selection. Margie has created a PDF download, seasonal guide to color that does more than just listing the colors for upcoming seasons, she has created a truly usable guide to this season’s colors with special emphasis to help the beader.

With each new seasonal color, Margie suggests Delica colors and gemstones that fall within the color ranges of the newest shades as defined by Panatone. She provides combinations and proportions (color palettes) for specific effects such as conservative and sophisticated, dramatic, and neutrality and warmth, Finally Margie includes magnificent pieces of jewelry, designed by Margie and several guest artists, using the primary and complimentary colors that she discussed for each new Pantone color.

Wow! What a useful and inexpensive guide for only $9.95.

Reviewer’s Fav

  • I find the Pink Mist color and associated palettes to be favorite. The Spring Mist glass leaves drape from Cantaloupe colored pearls and rose quartz beads. Necklace and lampworked leaves by Kristy Nijenkamp is a wonderful use of the color palette. (page 8)
