The 75 projects incorporate a number of bracelets, necklaces, chokers, anklets, earrings, amulet bags, watches and pendants.

Jewelry plays a special part of our lives. It marks momentous occasions, reminds us of sentimental times and helps us to feel special. Creating jewelry to wears or to give away makes an event even more special. One of the easier methods of creating jewelry is by beading. Susan Ray and Sue Wilke introduce the art of beading jewelry and offer 75 projects in their new full-color reference, “Easy Beaded Jewelry,” includes an extensive techniques section to help both novice and experienced beaders reach full creative potential.

“Easy Beaded Jewelry” gives help to beginning beaders who are not sure where to start. The authors discuss defining a personal style and allowing the style to be defined in the projects. They explain how to choose colors, where to find stock, how to clean and store beads and what tools to buy. The techniques chapter provides readers the essentials for stringing single and multi-strand jewelry and assembling findings and closures. The 75 projects incorporate a number of bracelets, necklaces, chokers, anklets, earrings, amulet bags, watches and pendants. Projects are organized by theme, including Casual Wear, Office Décor, All About Elegance, Advanced Stringing and Something Special. Most of the jewelry projects supply a completed photo, materials list, finished sizes and approximate cost and time to complete. The book ends with appendices on identifying beads, bed sizes, findings and jewelry lengths, as well as additional resources.

Both authors have more than 20 years experience in the craft industry and reside in Iowa. Ray founded the bead emporium Bubbles, Bangles and Beads in Galena, Ill. And wrote “The Art and Soul of Glass Beads.” Her craft and interior designs have been featured in many national publications. Wilke is the creator and proprietor of Ink and Stamp with Sue, also in Galena. She has taught classes on a large variety of techniques and materials. Other recent beading books include “The Beader’s Bible,” “Exquisite Beaded Jewelry,” “Beaded Jewelry with Found Objects” and” More French Beaded Flowers.” The upcoming Spring 2005 release is “Simple & Stylish Bead Accents.”
