The only problem with beaded ornaments is that some of them take a long time to make, so you need to get a jump on the season and start early. Fortunately, none of the ornaments in this book is horrendously time-consuming. The most involved ornament, ‘Russian Leaves,’ took me 10 to 12 hours, but you can whip up a ‘Christmas Spider’ or an “Easy Netted Ornament’ in three to four hours.
Another great thing abut the projects in this booklet is how inexpensive they all are to complete since they’re made with seed beads. Beaded ornament gifts will only cost you a few dollars and a few evenings in front of the TV, but they will be among the most prized hand-made gifts you’ve ever given. After all, one size fits all and the colors are limitless.
Don’t worry about breakage, either. Most of the ornaments that go on glass globes are covers that can be set over any globe of the correct size. So if the globe breaks, no problem. Even the ‘Easy Netted Ornament,’ which is fitted onto its globe can be moved to another simply by cutting the thread on the small bottom circle on beads. Put it on a new ornament, restring that bottom circle, and the ornament is as good as new.”
