This clear, well written book is an outstanding resource for the newest beginner to beadwork as well as the experienced bead embroiderer.
The author of Beaded Images, Beaded Images II, Back to Beadin’, and Amulet Obsession brings you Forever In Beads. Nine beautiful new patterns bring nature and memories to life. Predominantly horizontal and vertical brick stitch patterns, there is one square stitch pattern and two frameable loom pieces. Twelve earring patterns complete the book.
Done in sepia tone, fashioned in the art deco style of the time, the square stitch pattern, “Girl of the Twenties”, is exquisite. A single rose design can be found on the back of this purse. Earrings to match complete the set. Birds are still a favorite, as shown with the “Great Horned Owl” and “Peregrine Falcon” amulet purses. Done in subtle earth tones, they nearly come to life. Both purses have earrings to match. “Kriss Kringle” makes his appearance in rich shades of deep red. Candy canes and a Christmas bow adorn the back of this purse. The little “Toy Soldier” purse, all decked out in his holiday finery, looks great both coming and going. He comes complete with tiny “Toy Soldier” earrings.
Last of the purses is the “Rose in Pink”. Trimmed beautifully in crystal and ceramic beads, it’s pretty enough to be real. Loom work as been explored with the addition of two frameable beadworks. The Bavarian Neuschwanstein “Castle” done in cool shades of blue, framed beautifully in white. A pair of “Love Birds” standing almost lifelike against a black background, also framed in white. A third, piece, the “Oval Wolf”, was done as frameable beadwork.
With the variety of strap ideas available in this book and twist fringe to match, it could easily be made into a beautiful beaded necklace. The earring section is absolutely adorable. All but one of these designs is done in horizontal brick stitch. Four patterns match amulet purses: “Toy Solider”, “Great Horned Owl”, “Peregrine Falcon” and “Girl of the Twenties” (the last done in square stitch). The “Bluebird” earrings match the “Bluebird” amulet purse found in Back to Beadin’. “Cardinal” and “Cockatiel” earrings match patterns found in Amulet Obsession. Completing the selection of earring designs: “Lighthouse”, “Maiden”, a red breasted “Robin”, a stately “Swan”, “Blue Jay” and the cutest little “Chickadee”. Quick and easy to make, these earrings make a perfect addition to anyone’s beaded jewelry collection. Editors Note: There are a few errors in the book.
