Artist, designer, and color expert Margie Deeb is the author of several beading books, including the popular The Beader’s Guide to Color. Her next book, The Beader’s Color Palette, will be available spring 2008 by Watson-Guptill publications. She teaches color courses for artists, interior designers, and beaders and her free monthly color column, “Margie’s Muse,” is available on BeadBugle.Com each month. Class Synopsis
If you love color, but the color wheel has always intimidated you; or if you want to know more about how to work with color, but the word “theory” overwhelms you, this is the workshop for you.
In this interactive, dynamic course you’ll get to know the color wheel and use it for spectacular color combinations. Harmonious color relationships are crucial to any endeavor requiring color. If colors don’t coordinate, the effect is confusing, chaotic, or monotonous and boring. Unfortunately we often use color timidly out of fear of unchartered territory. You’ll learn the basic combinations based on geometrics then delve further into more complex harmonies.
You’ll gain new confidence in creating powerful, effective color combinations with all the hues, tints and shades available.
Color wheels will be provided. Please bring any you may already have, as all wheels are slightly different.

This lively, interactive course conveys the emotional magic of color through examples, experience, and hands-on practice and exercises. You’ll learn the psychological effects of color and how to create a mood, communicate an idea, or elicit a reaction with color. You’ll understand the emotional impact of color, and how to guide yourself and your clients to identify and choose colors that resonate with them. And you’ll understand yourself more as you discover your personal color voice.

Creative Color Use for Bead Artists
A two-day intensive exploring the magical language of color.
Color affects our beadwork, emotions and our life. We use it to communicate, to evoke feelings and express ourselves.
Through guided exercises, demonstrations, samples and examples you will understand more about the magical language of color, and how to create a mood, communicate an idea, or elicit a reaction with your beadwork. Get out of the rut of using the same colors and gain new confidence in creating powerful, effective color combinations with all the hues, tints and shades available to the bead artist. Finished pieces of your work can be critiqued if you like. This is a lively fun class, so be prepared to participate and learn.
